Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 includes a free accessibility pilot that allows players to control selected parts of the game through Cephable. The integration translates these alternative inputs into standard commands that Black Ops 7 can recognize. Cephable does not automate gameplay or decide what the player should do. The player performs an assigned voice command, movement, expression, gesture, or button activation, and the app translates it into the corresponding game input.

The pilot is also limited to selected non-competitive modes and requires a companion app, linked Cephable and Activision accounts, and an active connection between the app and the game. It provides additional ways to produce inputs rather than redesigning the underlying pace, aiming demands, visual presentation, or structure of Black Ops 7.

How the Cephable Connection Works

Players begin by installing the Cephable app on a supported computer or mobile device. They must create or sign in to a Cephable account and link it to the Activision account used for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.

Account linking can be started through the Call of Duty website or through the game’s Account & Network settings. After the accounts have been connected, the player launches both the game and the Cephable app. The game’s Cephable Account setting should report that the service is ready to use.

The app receives the player’s chosen alternative input and translates it into a standard in-game command. Activision states that this processing occurs locally through the Cephable companion app running on the player’s computer or mobile device. Once received by the game, the resulting commands are processed in the same general way as controller or keyboard-and-mouse inputs.

This is an official integration rather than an unapproved workaround. Activision identifies Cephable as an approved and supported input application for Black Ops 7. The implementation was developed and tested with Treyarch, Beenox, Cephable, members of the disability community, and the RICOCHET Anti-Cheat team.

The pilot designation remains important. Activision states that its details and features are subject to change. Support in Black Ops 7 should not be interpreted as a guarantee that Cephable works in other Call of Duty games or that the same modes will remain available indefinitely.

Voice Commands as Gameplay Inputs

Cephable can listen for configured voice commands after the player starts microphone access in the app. Activision gives examples such as “Go,” “Stop,” “Aim,” and “Fire.” These spoken commands can be translated into movement, aiming, shooting, or the cancellation of active commands.

Voice input may help a player move selected actions away from controls that are difficult to reach or operate. A player could potentially use speech for a command that would otherwise require a sustained trigger, rapid hand repositioning, or a simultaneous button combination.

Spoken commands do not remove the need to initiate each action. The player still has to produce the configured word or phrase at the intended time. Cephable then recognizes that input and sends the mapped command to the game.

Voice control is not equally accessible to everyone. A player may have limited speech, speech that the app does not recognize consistently, vocal fatigue, difficulty speaking while concentrating, or a need to remain quiet. Background noise and microphone access can also affect whether voice is a practical control method.

The feature’s inclusion in the Speech category should therefore not be read as a claim that speech input inherently improves accessibility for people with speech disabilities. For some players, voice can replace inaccessible hand movements. For others, voice recognition may be unreliable or unavailable, making head movement, facial expressions, touch buttons, switches, or physical controls more appropriate.

Head Movement and Facial Expressions

Cephable’s Camera Controls use a camera connected to the mobile or desktop device. The player can map head movements and facial expressions to game actions. The app must have access to a functioning camera before these controls can begin.

Head movement may provide an alternative way to control the camera or activate directional commands. A player who cannot operate a right analogue stick conventionally might experiment with mapping deliberate head movements to looking up, down, left, or right.

Facial expressions can be assigned to other actions. Depending on an individual configuration, a chosen expression might replace a button press that is difficult to perform physically. The exact expression-to-command mapping can be customized rather than requiring every player to use the same movement for the same action.

These inputs still involve motor activity. They relocate the movement from the hands to the head or face; they do not create movement-free control. Repeated or sustained facial and head motions can produce fatigue, discomfort, involuntary activation, or difficulty maintaining a stable visual focus for some players.

Head control can be particularly complicated in a fast first-person or third-person game. The player may need to move their head while continuing to look at the display. A large movement may be easier for the camera to distinguish but harder to perform without shifting visual attention. A smaller movement may be physically easier but require reliable recognition.

Cephable allows customization because the useful input will vary. If the app does not detect a particular movement or expression consistently, Activision directs players to Cephable’s support resources rather than presenting camera control as universally reliable.

Quick Action Buttons and Gestures

The companion app also provides Quick Action Buttons. These are on-screen controls that can produce configured game commands without requiring the player to activate the corresponding control on a conventional gamepad.

Touch controls may be useful when a larger target, different spacing, or a separate device is easier to access. A phone or tablet can be positioned independently from the main game display and physical controller. The player can customize the supplied controls or create their own configuration through the Cephable app.

The presence of an available command does not guarantee that every device arrangement will make it easy to use. Touchscreens generally provide less tactile separation than physical buttons, and a player may need to look at the device to locate a control. Large buttons and custom spacing can reduce some targeting demands, but the flat surface does not automatically provide physical landmarks.

Gesture inputs similarly depend on the movement a player can perform consistently and the app can distinguish. A useful configuration may require testing rather than simply enabling every available input type.

Alternative Inputs Can Be Combined

Cephable does not require the player to select one input method for the entire game. Activision states that players can use more than one Cephable input option and more than one companion device.

For example, a player could use a computer camera for head-based camera controls while using Quick Action Buttons on a mobile device. Voice commands could be reserved for actions that do not need to occur constantly, while a touch control or physical switch manages more frequent commands.

Physical inputs can remain part of the setup. Activision specifically notes that an adaptive controller or keyboard and mouse can be used alongside Cephable. The integration is therefore not an all-or-nothing replacement for conventional hardware.

This mixed-input approach is important because a single access method rarely fits every action equally well. Voice may work effectively for reloading but feel too slow for continuous movement. Head movement might support camera control but create fatigue if assigned to every direction. A physical switch may remain the most reliable way to fire, while a mobile button provides access to a less frequent menu command.

Combining methods allows the control arrangement to be divided according to reach, timing, repetition, endurance, and reliability. It may also provide a fallback when one input channel becomes temporarily difficult to use.

Cephable Does Not Automate Gameplay

Activision explicitly states that the system does not automate gameplay. Cephable translates player-generated inputs into standard commands; it does not select targets, decide when to fire, navigate levels independently, or perform sequences without an initiating action.

A spoken “Fire” command is an alternative input for firing. It is not an instruction for the game to locate an enemy and complete an encounter. A head movement assigned to the camera changes the view but does not aim automatically at a target.

This distinction also applies to customized buttons and expressions. One activation produces its mapped function. The player remains responsible for timing, direction, positioning, resource management, combat choices, and responses to enemies.

Some available commands represent sustained or toggled behaviour. Activision distinguishes between continuous shooting and a single firing action, for example, and includes a command that cancels active commands. Players need to understand how their chosen mapping begins, maintains, and stops an action.

Latency and Competitive Limitations

Cephable inputs pass through the companion application and an additional service before reaching the game. Activision warns that this process may create latency differences compared with a conventional controller or keyboard and mouse.

Latency is the delay between the player producing an input and the game responding. Even a small difference can matter in a fast action game, especially when aiming, firing, dodging, or reacting to an immediate threat.

Voice recognition can add its own practical timing considerations. The player must speak the command, the app must recognize it, and the command must be transmitted to the game. A head movement or touch activation may have a different response time. Players may therefore need to decide which input channel is appropriate for a timing-sensitive action.

Activision states that the Cephable inputs are not designed for competitive play. The pilot is limited to selected cooperative and solo-oriented content rather than standard competitive Multiplayer.

This limitation distinguishes alternative participation from equal availability across the complete game. Cephable can open new control possibilities within the supported content, but players relying on it may remain excluded from major modes where the integration is unavailable.

Which Modes Are Supported?

Activision’s current official sources are inconsistent about mode coverage. The detailed Activision Support FAQ states that the pilot is available in Zombies and Co-Op Campaign. It recommends beginning in the Zombies Firing Range, followed by the Zombies Training Course, before entering a match or Campaign.

The Call of Duty announcement published on the same date says the controls are available in Campaign, Zombies, Dead Ops Arcade, and the Firing Range across all platforms. These descriptions may reflect different grouping of activities, a documentation update that was not applied consistently, or changing pilot coverage.

Because the support FAQ is the detailed setup and troubleshooting document, Zombies and Co-Op Campaign are the safest modes to treat as expressly confirmed. Players should verify the current in-game Cephable settings before assuming that Dead Ops Arcade or any other mode remains available.

Competitive Multiplayer is not included in either description. Activision says the integration contains fair-play safeguards and was built in preparation for possible future expansion to other modes, but that wording is not a promise that expansion will occur.

Platforms, Accounts, and Equipment

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is available on Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4. Activision states that the Cephable pilot is available on PC and consoles.

The player still needs a separate computer or mobile device capable of running the Cephable companion app. Voice controls require microphone access, while head movements and facial expressions require a camera available to the app.

A Cephable account and an Activision account must be linked. Black Ops 7 itself requires an internet connection and an Activision account. These account, device, and network requirements mean the alternative controls are not entirely self-contained within the game.

If the app loses its connection, fails to recognize an input, or does not report the game as active, the player may need to restart the app and game, relink the accounts, or contact the appropriate support service. A control method that depends on a second device and linked service introduces more setup points than a directly connected physical controller.

Anti-Cheat Approval With Conditions

Cephable is officially approved for use with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. This is important because external input software can otherwise create uncertainty in a game protected by an anti-cheat system.

Activision states that the integration includes fair-play safeguards and was developed with the RICOCHET Anti-Cheat team. Players do not have to treat the supported Cephable integration as an unofficial modification.

However, approval is not unconditional permission for any behaviour produced through the software. Activision states that use may be restricted if suspicious behaviour is detected. The software’s approved status does not permit automation, cheating, or configurations that violate the game’s security and enforcement policies.

The Cephable integration can translate voice commands, head movements, facial expressions, gestures, and customized touch buttons into standard Black Ops 7 inputs. It also allows these methods to be combined with one another and with physical hardware such as an adaptive controller.

It does not automate gameplay, remove the game’s reaction demands, or support competitive Multiplayer. The additional processing may introduce latency, and the pilot requires accounts, a companion device, and compatible microphone or camera access for some controls. Access needs vary, and an input method that reduces hand-control demands may introduce speech, movement, fatigue, recognition, or setup barriers elsewhere. Its practical value lies in giving players more ways to construct a workable control arrangement within the pilot’s supported content.
