Forza Motorsport includes Blind Driving Assists that translate track position, steering direction, braking needs, corners, and vehicle orientation into spoken and tonal information.
The system provides a vocabulary for nonvisual racing rather than automatically driving the car. Players must learn the cues, configure their timing and audio balance, and respond while the race continues.
Steering Guide
Steering Guide uses continuous spatial audio to communicate where the car should move. The cue shifts left or right according to the relationship between the vehicle and the recommended driving line.
The player can steer toward the sound and hear the guidance change as the vehicle aligns. It is guidance rather than forced steering, so corrections and recovery remain under player control unless a separate steering assist is enabled.
Deceleration Cues
Deceleration Cues indicate when the vehicle needs to slow before an upcoming turn. The repetition rate communicates the amount of deceleration required.
A rapidly repeating cue can indicate that significant braking is needed. A slower pattern may mean the player only needs to reduce the throttle. An adjustable look-ahead offset can provide additional processing or motor-response time.
Turn Navigation and Turn Cues
Turn Navigation verbally announces the direction, length, and severity of an approaching turn. Corners are graded from one to six, with lower numbers representing sharper turns. Hairpins and extended corners receive additional descriptions.
Turn Cues provide a tonal countdown and mark the beginning, apex, and end of the corner. Connected corners receive a distinct ending cue after the sequence is complete.
Track Limit Cues
Track Limit Cues communicate proximity to the left and right edges of the valid racing surface. Pitch and repetition increase as the car approaches a boundary, becoming continuous when the vehicle is extremely close.
Separate patterns indicate leaving the track and returning to it. This gives the player information before and after a boundary crossing instead of only announcing that the car is already off course.
Wrong-Way and Gear Cues
Wrong Way Cues repeat when the vehicle is facing more than 90 degrees away from the intended racing direction and confirm when orientation is restored. Manual-transmission players can enable Shift Up and Shift Down cues, while the narrator can announce the selected gear.
Customizing and Combining Assists
Each Blind Driving Assist can be enabled independently, with dedicated pitch and volume adjustments. Player-engine, tire, opponent, impact, and environmental channels can also be balanced to reduce competition around accessibility cues.
The system relies heavily on stereo positioning and is optimized for headphones. Mono output or poorly positioned speakers can reduce the usefulness of directional information.
Blind Driving Assists can be combined with automatic shifting, assisted throttle and braking, steering assistance, traction and stability control, pit-entry assistance, and Reset to Track. This allows players to retain selected driving tasks while reducing others.
